News: VCU & Coach Rhoades agree to 2 year extension

Just two years after a tearful introduction ceremony as head coach for the Rams, Coach Mike Rhoades and VCU have agreed to a two year contract extension.

In 2019, Rhoades led the Rams to their first ever Atlantic 10 regular season championship and to an at large bid in the 2019 NCAA tournament.

The Rams were 18-15 in in first season as head coach and improved to 25-8 in his second year leading VCU.

The details of the deal are reported by VCUAthletics.com below.

The revised contract includes an increase in total compensation to $1.5 million in 2019, $1.6 million in 2020 and $1.7 million in 2021. It will also feature a number of program enhancements, including the allocation of an additional $50,000 towards assistant coaches’ salaries.
