Rams get an Ace in first 2020 commitment

VCU secured their first 2020 commitment last Saturday night with a verbal from Baltimore point guard, Adrian “Ace” Baldwin.

Baldwin took to Twitter to make the announcement after taking an official visit to VCU this weekend.

The signing is the first of what will be a large class that will look to fill the hole left following the graduations of De’Riante Jenkins, Malik Crowfield, Marcus Evans, Issac Vann and Mike’l Simms.

A 6′ point guard out of St. Frances Academy, Baldwin held a number of high major offers and took unofficial visits to the likes of North Carolina and Kentucky as an ESPN/Rivals 4-star recruit, ranking 107th nationally on Rivals.com. One recruiting expert described Baldwin to VCURamNation.com as, “Pure point who plays top competition. He’s a battle tested, crafty pass-first guard who can make shots.”

Baldwin averaged 11.4 points, a team-high 3.4 assists and hit 40.5% of his threes in last summer’s 10-game Adidas Gauntlet for Maryland’s team BBC. He followed that by leading his St. Frances squad to a 30-5 record against some of the nation’s toughest competition.
