P.J. Byrd announces his departure from VCU

P.J. Byrd made the official announcement on Friday afternoon that he is choosing to transfer out of the VCU basketball program. He made the announcement on Twitter:

In 32 games played as a freshman, P.J. averaged 9.2 minutes per game, while putting up 1.2 ppg and 1.1 apg in that span.

He will have 3 years of eligibility but will be required to sit out 1 year due to NCAA transfer requirements.

VCU will need to either look for a transfer to back up senior PG Marcus Evans, or will rely heavily on incoming freshman PG Tre Clarke.
