VCU’s Michael Gilmore has officially inked a deal with the professional German basketball club Phoenix Hagen. The team competes in Germany’s Pro A division, and is homed in the city of Hagen in western Germany. The team went 15-15 last season and will look to improve with the addition of Gilmore and his versatility.
Gilmore joins a growing list of VCU student athletes to continue their sports career professionally. According to VCU Athletics, Gilmore is the 32nd Ram to sign a professional deal since 2004.
Michael Gilmore was a unique player who started and finished his college career at VCU. In his senior season, he average 2.8 points and 2.4 rebounds per game, shooting 54% overall. He added versatility to the VCU roster last season with his ability to score in the post as well as from long range, where he shot 33%.
