Video: VCU opens conference play with convincing win; defeats Fordham 64-46 [INSIDER]

Recap: VCU opened up conference play against Fordham Thursday night.  The black and gold picked up where they left off, getting their 11th win on the season.  It was their night from the very tip. VCU’s largest lead was 26 points with 11 minutes to go in the 2nd half.

Notables:

  • Senior Mike’l Simms led all rams in scoring with 14 points and also grabbed 8 rebounds.
  • Fordham turned the ball over 18 times to VCU’s 9.
  • Marcus Santos-Silva scored 11 points and collected 7 rebounds.
  • VCU shot 43% from the field, connecting on 23 of 54 shots.
  • The Rams’ bench outscored Fordham’s 23-9.
  • VCU grabbed 32 rebounds to Fordham’s 31.
  • The Rams shot 32% from behind the arc.  They hit 7 of their 22 three point shots.
  • Tonight’s game marked the 144th consecutive sellout at the Siegel Center for the Rams.

Next Game: VCU will travel to Fairfax to play George Mason University on Sunday January 5th at 12pm.  The game will be televised on NBC Sports Network.
