Video: VCU’s hard fought battle falls just short; loses to Dayton 66-61 [INSIDER]

Recap: VCU looked to bounce back after two consecutive losses. On Tuesday, they had an opportunity to do so with #5 Dayton coming to the Siegel Center.  Unfortunately, it was an opportunity lost as the Rams fall 66-61 behind Freshman Bones Hyland’s team high 18 points.

 

Notables:

  • Dayton turned the ball over 13 times to VCU’s 10.
  • Rams had 3 players score in double digits. (Hyland 18, Williams 13, Santos-Silva 12)
  • VCU shot 37% from the field, connecting on 21 of 57 shots.
  • The Rams’ bench outscored Dayton’s 14-13.
  • VCU grabbed 41 rebounds to Dayton’s 31.
  • The Rams shot 29% from behind the arc.  They hit 6 of their 21 three point shots.
  • Tonight’s game marked the 150th consecutive sellout at the Siegel Center for the Rams.

Next Game: VCU will travel to St. Louis to play SLU on Friday, February 21st at 9pm.  The game will be televised on ESPN2/ESPNU.
