Rams land 7’1 transfer big, Brendan Medley-Bacon

The black and gold quite literally landed a big commitment with the addition of 7’1 245 Coppin State transfer, Brendan Medley-Bacon.

The 2020 MEAC Third Team center chose the Rams over a final list of teams that included Rhode Island, Boise State, Southern Illinois and Old Dominion. Due to current NCAA rules, he’ll sit one season then have two left to play.

“We are excited to have Brendan join our program,” said VCU head coach, MikeRhoades. “He will definitely fit into our approach, style of play and needs. I can’t wait to get Brendan to campus, and we all can get to work. We are very happy to have him in our family.”

The Baltimore native averaged 7.5 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.1 blocks his sophomore season with the Eagles.

The rising junior had a bit of a slow start to his career before really breaking out during this year’s MEAC conference season. BMB averaged a 10.8-point, 12.2-rebound double double in conference action in his 32.7 minutes per contest including a 20-point, 13-rebound, 5-block performance in his final game with the Eagles.

Medley-Bacon fills the final roster slot the Rams had available after graduating a five-man senior class.

Yeah, I know who Juan Dixon is, but if he leaves and goes to,lets say North Dakota State will he help us establish a North Dakota pipeline as well? And wouldn't coaches lining up a transfer be some sort of NCAA rules violation? "
Also, why would the coach who we poached a kid from funnel more players our way?
