Atlantic 10 Announces Men’s Basketball 2020-21 Schedule Pairings

The A-10 announced the upcoming season’s men’s basketball pairings for whenever basketball returns to the court, placing a daunting path in front of what will be a young VCU team coming off last season’s ninth place conference finish.

VCU will take on A-10 defending undefeated regular season champ, Dayton, in home-and-home action, as well as a Richmond Spiders squad that VCU went 1-1 against this past season, a Chris Mooney-led team that is picking up early preseason top-25 mentions.

The Rams will get a shot at redemption against a reloading Rhode Island team that swept the black and gold last season and will finish up their home-and-home pairings against George Mason and Davidson, two teams VCU split their regular season series with.

In my opinion this is a BRUTAL schedule for a young, but talented, VCU team.

Dayton is going to be very challenging.
Richmond is going to be very challenging.
Rhode Island, even with their reload, should be quite tough.
Davidson will be improved and tough.
Mason is our most sweepable home-and-home pairing.

This is a fun home schedule to go to though if fans are allowed in the arena.

Brutal. Torvik's algorithm might have been being generous with 7-11 as our predicted conference record.

That's actually a great question.

My gut says the dead roster spots from Frampton and Pritchett being out surprisingly last season was a killer, but you're right, no paper a lot of question marks (did they really replace any of those two or JAG?).

I do like Grady, Bradkovich and Lee as a solid little core and I think Boachie-Yiodam, Mike Jones and Collins are all very solid (Jones & Collins both 40% 3p% guys). My gut says McKillop just finds a way to figure it out more than last season. Either way, they beat us last season and are always tough, so I just throw em in the "tough game" column.

At least we can all rest easy in knowing that if we do go 7-11 as predicted, we'll get to hear a metrics-driven and cliche-less dialogue about the results with an honest and in-depth assessment as to why they occurred.
