VCU lands first 2021 class commitment with verbal from forward, Jalen Deloach

The Rams kicked off their 2021 class in style tonight with a verbal commitment from 6’9 Savannah, GA native, Jalen Deloach.

The versatile big man chose the Rams from a final list of schools that included Georgia, Kansas State, Ole Miss, Texas Southern and South Carolina.

“It’s how coach Rhoades and Brunt and the whole staff called me, called my mom and dad,” DeLoach said in an interview with SUVtv from which he made his announcement. “And basically I was a need for VCU. And they actually wanted me and needed me.”

“Me and coach Rhoades have a great relationship and basically the whole staff,” DeLoach added on why he committed to VCU. “They were hard on me the hardest and it’s somewhere I can go right way and play and have an impact.”

Deloach is a 247Sports composite 3-star recruit playing a post-graduate year at Atlanta-based The Skill Factory.

The big man has been known to step out beyond the three-point arch, plays with a high motor and has a 7’1 wingspan.

One DI coach Ram Nation spoke to prior to his commitment commented, “he’s a perfect match [for VCU] with his pressing style and up and down play”.
