I don't know, rupture sounds a lot worse than a tear. I think Marcus Evans recovery was somewhat of a miracle. I think 6 months is unlikely.

A rupture is a complete tear with total loss of function. It's going to involve a lot longer rehab than just 6 months. Most of what I've read on the subject (on Medscape and other medical journal-type pages) suggests the rehab could take up to a year.

In the other thread I dropped several links, from Mayo Clinic and several orthopedic sites indicating that tear and rupture are interchangeable terms (and could have dropped a dozen more), and that the latter does not necessarily indicate a more serious injury. Even if all those orthopedics experts are wrong and you guys are right, there is no reason to think that the person who wrote the release from VCU was as intimately familiar with the distinction as you are.

I am not saying he'll be back in 6 months. I have zero expectations about his recovery period, but I do think they know or at least have an idea. We'll know more as time rolls on

Although Marcus was red shirting during his first injury, it still took him at least 6 months to recover to the point he could practice with the team. I don't consider that recovering quickly. I would not expect Ace back until January at the earliest.

And at that point he and the staff would have to decide whether returning and burning a year is the right thing to do. He gets the +1 COVID year, so maybe it would be ok, but still a consideration

I agree. Lots of variables to consider at that point, including VCU's season record. The OOC portion of next year's schedule just became a lot more challenging with Bones gone and Ace on the sidelines.

We had a freshman point guard last year and did ok

I would imagine that depends on Nunn's development over the summer. If he is a prodigy like Ace, I suspect he'll get big minutes at #1 and Tso will move between 1 and 2. If he has a more typical maturation process at the position, I would expect Tso to start at the 1 at least at the season's start. But this definitely means big minutes for both Nunn and for Josh, who I believe is set up to take a BIG step this year
