Will Wade and his staff are taking the annual Black and Gold scrimmage to the next level, this year adding an autograph session and alumni game following the team scrimmage. The Siegel Center will open its doors October 24th at 3:00 PM, allowing basketball-deprived VCU fans the chance to take in the atmosphere before the season officially begins.
The Black and Gold scrimmage is a first look at the 2015-2016 roster, as newbies and veterans run through sets, giving VCU fans an opportunity to preview new looks, and elevate the speculation on breakout players. Most VCU fans will be anxious to watch the performance of Michael Gilmore, who Will Wade has been touting as someone who “is going to make as big a jump as anybody in our program as a player. He’s got unreal talent.”
Will Wade is stacking the deck this year for VCU fans, adding an alumni game following the scrimmage. The roster so far includes many VCU legends, including Calvin Duncan, Kendrick Warren, Lionel Bacon, Bo Jones, Rob Brandenberg and Ed Nixon. Fingers crossed that Larry Sanders calls to join, I would LOVE to see him break a rim or two back at the Stu.
As always, admission is free. Also, VCU will be providing free transportation to Sportsbackers Stadium following the event for students who want to catch the men's soccer game at 7pm.
