Rob Brandenberg scored a game-high 21 points as VCU (19-5, 7-2) downed Charlotte (17-6, 5-4) 68-61, handing the Niners first home loss of the season in front of the 8,794 in attendance.

Brandenberg scored 14 in the second half as the Rams stretched a six-point halftime lead into a 14-point advantage with just five minutes to play. The junior guard was 7-12 on the game and 3-of-5 from deep.

Juvonte Reddic chipped in 14 points for the black-and-gold as well as surprisingly low team-high four rebounds on a night VCU grabbed a season-low 17 total.

Despite a 34-17 rebound and 8 foul disadvantage, the Rams were able to control last night's contest by hitting 51.9% from the field and forcing 17 Charlotte turnovers.

VCU shot just eight free throws to Charlotte's 22, but the Niners were particularly miserable at the stripe, hitting 54.5% of their attempts on the game.

Treveon Graham rounds out VCU's list of double-digit scorers. The sophomore had 12 points in his 25 minutes of play.

Graham was strapped with foul trouble with four on the evening.

Darius Theus was the lone Ram to post 30 or more minutes in the win. Theus added seven points and a game-high six assists on the night.

The win marks VCU's third straight and keeps the Rams tied atop the A-10 with No.14 Butler and St. Louis at 7-2 each.

The Rams are back in action at the Siegel Center this Thursday for a 9PM Valentine's night tip against the Minutemen of UMass (16-6, 6-3).

VCU then follows that with a 7:30PM Saturday home tip against George Washington (11-11, 5-4).
