VCU announced on Tuesday the hiring of former VCU Final Four standout Brandon Rozzell as Director of Student-Athlete Development. Rozzell had been playing overseas for nearly 10 years, most recently in Cyprus.

The Student-Athlete Development position at VCU is focused on helping players develop off the court, including leadership development, and assisting with VCU's community service efforts in the Richmond area.

A Richmond native, and appropriately dubbed "The Mayor", Rozzell was a standout at VCU all four years from 2007 to 2011. He ranks 8th in school history in 3 pointers with 193. His performance in the NCAA tournament in 2011 led VCU to its first and only Final Four appearance. After VCU, Rozzell had an excellent career overseas, playing in several countries, including Netherlands, Costa Rica, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, and Cyprus. He won Basketligaen MVP in 2016, and twice won Finals MVP through his career.

Rozzell also participated in Ram Nation's TBT (The Basketball Tournament) team, which brought him back to the Siegel Center in 2018 where he once again played in front of a roaring crowd of VCU fans.
