The Rams jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back, holding UNCW to single digits the first 18 minutes of the game on just 16.7% shooting from the field.
At times the game resembled that of a Harlem Globetrotter's exhibition with UNCW playing the part of the Washington Generals (complete with 15 first half turnovers, 28 on the night).
It was a much needed "break" for the Rams coming off a hard fought win over ECU just three nights ago. The win over Wilmington was VCU's first in conference, and the first over a 3 games in 5 days stretch.
Larry Sanders lead all scores with 16 points and added 2 rebounds, 5 blocks, an assist, and 1 steal in 19 minutes of play.
Wake Forest transfer Jaime Skeen chipped in 10 points, 9 rebounds, and an assist in only 16 minutes of play.
Bradford Burgess lead VCU in rebounding with 10 boards to go along with his 8 points, 2 assists, and 3 steals in 18 minutes.
Joey Rodriguez and TJ Gwynn lead VCU with 5 assists each. Rodriguez added 11 points, 3 boards, and 2 steals. Gwynn posted 7 points and 7 rebounds to go along with his 5 assists.
VCU's balanced attack saw leads of as much as 46 points, with all 14 Rams scoring.
VCU will take on Northeastern this Monday in a rare 7:00 tip at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
