Briante Weber has officially been named to the 2015 Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award Watch List. The Cousy Award is one of the top awards honored in college basketball and recognizes the top point guards in men’s college basketball.
Former Rams Joey Rodriguez and Eric Maynor were also listed as finalists for the Cousy Award.
This news comes just as CBS Sports has listed Weber as college basketball's Preseason Defensive Player of the Year:

To call Weber a great defender is an understatement. Weber is an historically great collegiate defender. He is the linchpin of Shaka Smart's "Havoc," a player with an indefatigable motor as well as superb quickness that allows him to stay in front of everyone that the opposition can place in front of him. He presses, pests and annoys offensive players through sheer speed and energy. Those skills alone would be enough to land him on this list somewhere. However, combining them with his incredible hand-eye coordination creates a weapon that is unlike any other in the NCAA, and one that could enter the NCAA's record book come March.

Weber will begin his season at the Siegel Center on November 18th against Toledo after sitting out the season opener to Tennessee due to team conduct policy violation. Despite missing the season opener, Weber could still break the NCAA all-time steals record by the end of his college career.
