VCU  landed another piece to their future today with the commitment of  JUCO transfer, Corey Douglas.
The 6'8 Louisville native spent the last year under Mike Rhoades as a freshman at Rice but played just nine games before an injury shut his season down. Douglas opted initially to transfer to a junior college following Rhoades' departure from Rice to VCU, but today announced his intention to transfer to the Rams following a season at Tallahassee CC.
Douglas was a promising young player on Rhoades' Owls team,  averaging 4.4 points and 3.8 rebounds in just 17.2 minutes as a freshman but connected on 85% of his attempts to start his college career.
Douglas is strong on the offensive glass and a solid shot-blocker, blocking 5% of opposing teams' shots in his first nine games of action.
Douglas posted career highs in points (11), rebounds (9) and blocks (3) in just his second game of his career, getting a start and 23 minutes of action against Texas Southern. The Fork Union product showed more than enough promise to impress his future coach (again) in his limited action as a DI college athlete and after a season of JUCO play appears set to reunite with Rhoades and former teammate Marcus Evans, this time as a trio of VCU Rams.
