VCU (10-6, 2-1 A-10) grabbed its 10th win of the season with a close victory on the road against La Salle (7-9, 1-2 A-10).

Stellar shooting performances from De'Riante Jenkins (20 points) and Malik Crowfield (17 points) kept the Rams afloat during some tough stretches throughout the game.

VCU had a rough start to the game, going scoreless in the first 6 minutes of play, allowing La Salle to jump ahead to a 15-0 advantage. Eventually VCU got hot, with De'Riante Jenkins and Issac Vann hitting 3 consecutive 3 pointers to bring VCU within 2 with 6:00 to go in the first half.

The Rams would eventually end the half down 8 with a bit of a scoring run from Justin Tillman (7 1st half pts) and De'Riante Jenkins (14 1st half pts). Jenkins went 5-8 overall, and 4-6 from 3 in the first half, giving VCU the boost needed to stay within single digits.

VCU tightened up in the second half, with Malik Crowfield going 3-3 from deep in the first 3 minutes, and Justin Tillman punctuating that with a dunk which led VCU to it's first lead of the game at the 16:25 mark.

Malik Crowfield put on an absolutely stunning shooting performance today, shooting 62% from deep (5-8).

La Salle kept up with the Rams though, with a few crucial 3 pointers and by getting to the line, eventually climbing back to within 2 points at the 3:27 mark. However, it was VCU senior Jonathan Williams who proved resilient, hitting each of his 6 free throws in the last 2 minutes of play, sealing the victory for the Rams.

VCU needed to escape Philadelphia with a win after losing to St. Joseph's (6-7, 1-1 A-10) on Wednesday at Michael Hagan Arena. The Rams will return home to Richmond to face a red hot Duquesne (11-4, 2-0 A-10) team on Tuesday at 8:00 PM.
