New VCU head coach Ryan Odom announced on Saturday that he has added Darius Theus to his coaching staff as an assistant:
The hire complete's Odom's primary group of assistants, as Darius will be joining Matt Henry and Bryce Crawford (both assistants that Odom has brought with him from Utah State).
Darius comes back to VCU after spending a year as an assistant coach at Sienna under head coach Carmen Maciariello. Prior to Sienna, Theus spent 4 years at VCU as the Director of Player Development.
Many VCU fans know Theus as a star point guard who helped lead the Rams to three NCAA tournament appearances, one of those being VCU's historic Final Four run in 2011. He also proposed to his wife LaDonna during a timeout at a VCU home game while on VCU's staff.
