De'Riante Jenkins stepping away from basketball

Senior forward, De'Riante Jenkins, is stepping away from basketball for the moment. VCU Athletic's issued the following statement from Rams head coach, Mike Rhoades, today.

He is dealing with a personal health matter, so we ask that you respect his privacy and that of his family. I love and support De’Riante and look forward to him being back once he is ready. Privacy laws prohibit the university from commenting any further on this matter."

Jenkins is currently second on the team in scoring average at 10.7 points per contest, one of just two Rams averaging double-digits this season. The senior has tallied 1179 total points over his career at VCU and has been one of the Rams most accurate three-point shooters throughout his career, connecting on 37.4% of his 524 career attempts.
