Djonkam played one season with the Rams after originally committing to A-10 foe, Duquesne.

The Arlington native was a late add in new Head Coach Mike Rhoades' first recruiting class after being granted his release from Duquesne due to an offseason coaching change that saw the departure of Dukes coach Jim Ferry for Keith Dambrot.

Djonkam played sparingly as a freshman for the Rams, averaging 0.76 points in 3.5 minutes per contest. He appeared in 20 games for the Rams and scored a career-high four points in nine minutes of action in VCU's opening season win against Grambling State.

Djonkam's departure means VCU will have one remaining available roster spot for this upcoming 2018-19 season.
