The teams traded buckets early, but a 17-4 run halfway through the first half pushed VCU ahead for good.

Joey Rodriguez hit a huge three to cap that run giving the Rams a 9 point halftime lead. Rodriguez showed why he's the CAA's leading assist man, dropping 7 dimes to go along with his 8 points on the night.

Bradford Burgess posted his third double double of the season scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The 54 points were the least VCU has given up since last month's domination of Towson, and the forth best defensive effort of the season.

The win moves VCU to 19-7, 10-6 in the CAA and at least mathematically preserves VCU's chances at that coveted 4th seed heading into the CAA tournament.

The Rams will step out of conference to face the Akron Zips in a televised ESPN Bracket Busters pairing this Saturday at 4PM.
