Don't get me wrong, we LOOOVE what teams have done outside of the Siegel Center on Saturday nights, but without the time (or budget) to cover other sports, we've kept this site hoops centric.
That said...I've got a confession to make Ram Nation. I've got a serious craving for OG football.
VCU has a Shaka Smart on the pitch, as head coach, Dave Giffard, guided the black and gold to a national ranking in just his second season with the Rams, and looks to take his third edition back to the NCAA tournament as he grows VCU's soccer profile nationally.
The Rams return a talent-heavy team despite losing star striker, Jason Johnson, to the MLS Draft's first round just months ago.
The black and gold kick off the regular season Friday night against the Blazers of UAB, 7PM at SportsBackers Stadium as a part of this year's VCU Tournament. Rowdy FC (the soccer version of the Rowdy Rams) will be in the house and transportation for students will be provided from Cary Street Gym at 6PM, then returning following the game.
Start your weekend off with VCU soccer and follow the Rams as they attempt to return to the NCAA tournament as we countdown to basketball season.
