Highly recommended: VCU baseball games

Hoop fans, March is over and with that I'm here to recommend a greatly underrated experience in Richmond, VA: VCU baseball games.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't get to as many as I'd like to, but as the weather warms up I'm going to make it a priority to change that and I invite you to join me. It's VCU, hot dogs, Cracker Jacks and beer. As far as I know the only VCU rooting experience that allows you to cheer on the Rams with an adult beverage from your seats, which is something I find rather relaxing and combined with some warm weather and friends makes for a very pleasant VCU sports experience.

On top of that, tickets go for just $7 for adults, $4 for kids and $3 for group tickets, a steal compared to VCU basketball games that in some cases are 10 times that amount.

The Rams are off to a 4-2 start in A-10 play and boast an 18-10 overall record through the colder months of the season and have plenty of room on the bandwagon for you and I to jump in at this point.

Head Coach Shawn Stiffler's Rams were the A-10 regular season champs this past year, finished second the season before that and won the 2015 A-10 title before eventually advanced to an NCAA Super Regional. Moral of the story? This group competes for titles and more often than not can take you on a really fun ride through their season.

"But Mat, 18-10? Their season has to be close to ending, no?"

Au contraire! There is about two fulls months left of action at the Diamond, followed by what I hope will be another NCAA tournament run.

VCU was picked to finish second in this season's A-10 preseason baseball poll behind the Saint Louis Billikens, but was one of four conference teams to pick up preseason first place votes, grabbing three of those, the second most behind SLU.
