Hopefully this post doesn't jinx anything...

Going down the list...

- Field Hockey is one of the Ram's two undefeated teams, starting the season off 4-0 and outscoring their opponents 13-5.

- Men's soccer has three wins to zero losses (with two ties), and have outscored their opponents 12-3.

- Volleyball has one loss but NINE wins (five straight), and have won 14 more sets than opposing teams during that run.

- Women's soccer is coming off a golden goal win over the Big East's Pitt Panthers yesterday, and have outscored their opponents 8-6 on the season, good for a 3-2-2 record.

That's a combined record of 19-3-4 this season -- according to my latest VCU press release, the best start in 15 years.  Also via that press release, that's five total wins against programs from the ACC and Big East. Not a bad start for the Black and Gold and new AD Ed McLaughlin.

Women's soccer takes on UMBC (1-6-1) Friday at SportsBackers (very winnable), while the men head to Fla. Gulf Coast (3-2), field hockey to heads to Davidson (2-3) and volleyball heads to Army (6-4).

The near future looks bright for the Rams, hopefully a nice primer for what you all come here to read and discuss...VCU basketball, which sees exhibition action just 52 days from now.
