Hyland leads Rams in dominating win over Flyers; 66-43

Just one game after the Rams (11-4; 4-2) uncharacteristic second-half collapses, VCU rebounded in spectacular fashion to dominate the Dayton Flyers, 66-43.

Behind an 18-2 first half run, the Rams were able to hold the Flyers to just 13 total first half points—Daytons first half total lowest since their 2013 season.

Bones Hyland 13 first half points matched the entire output of the Flyers offense.

He would finish with a game-high 28 points to go with 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

As a team, VCU outrebounded Dayton to the tune of 44-32

Hason Ward led the Rams with 6 overall rebounds to go with 6 points and 5 blocks.

The Rams scored 36 points in the paint to the Flyers 22 points.

Levi Stockard III put up 6 of those points in the paint to go with his 6 rebounds.

After starting the game shooting 2-9 for 22%, the Rams turned on the afterburners to hit all five of the next shots.

VCU shot 25-60 overall for 42% while dropping in 7 of their 23 three-point attempts for 30%.

All three of Daytons successful long-range field goals came in the second half. The Flyers shot 15% from deep on their 20 attempts.

Anthony Grants Flyers connected on 17-55 for 31% at the end of forty minutes.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 27th as they host the Minutemen of UMASS. That game is set to tip at 7om EST and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
