JUCO transfer Mike'l Simms commits to VCU

Mike’l Simms has officially confirmed his commitment to play basketball at VCU. As a JUCO transfer, the 6-foot-5, 225 pound wing will be immediately eligible to play his 3 remaining years at VCU. Mike'l is a Richmond native, having played high school ball at Highland Springs (same as VCU Final Four legend Brandon Rozzell).
Rams fans were anxiously awaiting the news after Simms posted an image yesterday of his VCU official visit itinerary, with a caption that read "Official visit going great! #RamNation":

Mike'l spent the last year playing ball at Cowley College where he averaged 14 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Simms was dominant in his last 5 games, where he averaged nearly 26 points per game.
New VCU head coach Mike Rhoades has made true on his interest in recruiting local talent to the Rams, with Mike'l Simms being the 5th Virginia talent to join the roster this offseason.
Simms officially confirmed his commitment this morning through Twitter:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en">

The news comes just 2 days after VCU announced that rising sophomore Samir Doughty would be transferring from the program. Mike'l Simms will be immediately available to replace the void left behind.
