Sanders quit professional basketball and a left a multi-million dollar contract with the Bucks two years ago to deal with depression, anxiety and a mood disorder, leaving around $21 million on the table in the buyout.

The athletic shot-blocker recently worked out with the Cavaliers but saw the defending champs bring on veteran big Andrew Bogut instead. Bogut's time however was short-lived after fracturing his tibia in his first minute of play.

Sanders was drafted as the 15th overall pick by the Bucks in the 2010 NBA Draft. He became the Rams' highest drafted player in the history of the program and VCU's only early-entry prospect and played five seasons before stepping away from the game. His return to the league gives VCU four former Rams in the NBA at the moment, joining Troy Daniels (Memphis), Treveon Graham (Charlotte) and Briante Weber (Charlotte) for an all-time VCU record.
