The Damatha High School product averaged just 2.6 minutes per game as a freshman and with a crowded backcourt returning will likely head to a program where he will have an opportunity to play increased minutes.

With four incoming freshman to only three available roster spots, the writing was on the wall that one person was headed elsewhere. VCU didn't release details on where Lyles might be headed, but with recent Shaka Smart assistants now head coahces at Mount St. Mary's (Jamion Christian), Radford (Mike Jones), UT Chattanooga (Will Wade) and most recently Rice (Mike Rhoades), Lyles will likely have a number of solid landing spots to choose from.
A resident of Silver Spring, Marlyand, Lyles came to VCU via Damatha as an ESPN 3-star guard with offers from VCU and Oklahoma State and had interest from a number of other high major programs. The freshman was impressive in VCU's Black & Gold game but with a crowded backcourt never really had much of a chance to make an impact during the past season in regular season action.
