Marcus Santos-Silva announces departure from VCU

VCU forward Marcus Santos-Silva has announced through social media on Monday that he will be transferring from VCU. His departure comes after a recent announcement that he would be entering himself as a NBA draft candidate without an agent. It now appears that he will use his extra year of NCAA eligibility elsewhere.

In a post on his Instagram account, he said "My decision has nothing to do with the team or coaches, they're always going to be family to me" ... "I'm just doing what I feel is the best option and decision for my future."

Santos-Silva was VCU’s leading scorer last season (18-13) where he averaged 12.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.

VCU announced yesterday an addition to the roster with the landing of 7’1 transfer Brendan Medley-Bacon, you can read about him here. Unless he is waived, Medley-Bacon would have to sit out 1 year due to NCAA requirements.

VCU will now have an additional roster spot to fill this offseason as it looks to replace a significant contributor from the 2019-2020 season.
