Daniels in NBA action on NBA TV Monday

Troy Daniels and the Houston Rockets will continue their countdown to the regular season tonight with a preseason tip against the Phoenix Suns at 8PM EST on NBA TV. Daniels has seen limited minutes in his two preseason games starting his first full season with the Rockets after being called up from the D-League in time to win a playoff game for the team last season. Troy dropped 9 points in just 12 minutes this past Thursday night. He was 0-1 from the field in the previous game, getting just 9 minutes of burn off the bench.

Upcoming hoops events

Two big basketball events are fast approaching, both just two weekends away. The action starts on Friday, Oct. 25th, with former Cleveland Cavs Coach, Mike Brown, joining Boston College head coach, Steven Donahue and VCU's very own Shaka Smart for the Coach Smart Coaches Clinic. Coach Smart will host coaches of all levels at VCU that day. The clinic includes observation of a VCU Rams practice, presentations from three guest speakers and a social at the end of the day.

The following night Ram fans will get a chance to observe a bit of a practice themselves as VCU takes on VCU in this year's Black & Gold Game. This will also be a first chance for fans who haven't made it down to volleyball games to take an in person look at the latest Siegel Center upgrades including the Siegel Center's latest gem, a brand new state-of-the-art center hung scoreboard and sound system. That game tips at 5PM with tickets available at the door (unlike all of VCU's games this event hasn't typically sold out).

Media picks Rams to win A-10, Preseason top-25

VCU will enter this upcoming season as the clear favorite to win a league coming off an impressive 6-bid season. Most recently CBS released their preview, with the Rams being the unanimous No.1 by all six contributors. The black and gold have appeared in basically every preseason top-25 by all the major media outlets, including most recently No.15 by ESPN's Dick Vitale.

Expectations will no doubt be higher than they've ever been for VCU, but is this the year the Rams break through and win their first ever Atlantic 10 title?
