New Home For Rams Radio: 98.5 FM and 910 AM

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Athletics and its exclusive multimedia rights holder, Learfield’s VCU Sports Properties, announced today a five-year radio agreement between iHeart Media Richmond and its stations, Fox Sports 910 AM and BIG 98.5 FM.

Beginning with the 2016-17 season, terms of the agreement call for Fox Sports 910 AM and BIG 98.5 to simulcast all VCU men’s basketball games live. Additionally, VCU Athletics radio staples, “An Hour with Ed” and “The Will Wade Coaches Show” will air on Fox Sports 910. Various broadcasts dedicated increased promotional opportunities for VCU Athletics are other highlights of the deal.

“Our student-athletes and coaches continue to win at an elite level nationally, and we appreciate the opportunity to create a new radio partnership with Rick Green and the staff at iHeart Media Richmond,” said VCU’s Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Ed McLaughlin. "We anticipate growth and success for our game broadcasts and radio shows with our new venture.”

“We’re happy that Fox Sports 910 and BIG 98.5 will serve as our new radio home for the VCU Basketball in Richmond,” said VCU Sports Properties’ General Manager and Voice of the Rams Robby Robinson. “The enhanced promotional opportunities for VCU with our new iHeart Media partnership are exciting for both fans and advertisers.”

According to iHeart Media’s Area President Rick Green, this marks a new chapter in the company’s VCU history books. “There’s no question we’re excited to be carrying VCU basketball and creating new radio content for Rams fans. This will be an excellent partnership with VCU Athletics, we’re certain of it.”

Fox Sports 910 has been Richmond’s premier sports station for over 20 years, featuring Wes McElroy, recently named Virginia Sportscaster of the Year, along with sports Radio’s leading national talent like Dan Patrick, Rich Eisen and Jay Mohr. This partnership pairs VCU Basketball with central Virginia’s leading sports station with the areas top college sports team.
