Mo Alie-Cox was not the only former VCU Ram trying to take their game to the next level this past week. JeQuan Lewis was one of 64 NCAA players to receive an invite to the 65th Annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament.

The PIT is a showcase for players on the fringe of being considered for the NBA Draft, giving them another opportunity to put their talents on display for NBA General Managers and Scouts.
Rick Barry, Earl (The Pearl) Monroe, John Lucas, Dennis Rodman, John Stockton and Tim Hardaway are just some of the names of future NBA stars that got the invite to the tournament about 90 minutes from Richmond.
Lewis teamed up with players from all over for the Portsmouth Sports Club roster, including London Perrantes (UVA) and Reggie Upshaw Jr (MTSU). You can see the full team roster below.

The former VCU starting point guard played in three games starting on Wednesday and wrapping up Saturday. He averaged 9 points, 6.3 assists, 3 Turnovers, 2.6 steals in 21.3 minutes. The Tennessee native notched a double double in game two with 10 points and 10 rebounds. He came off the bench for the first two games but started in game 3. The team managed to win just one of their three games.
Lewis is the 5th VCU player since 2012 to play in the PIT. (Bradford Burgess '12, Juvonte Reddic '14, Treveon Graham '15, Melvin Johnson '16). Treveon Graham won Most Valuable Player in 2015.
This year, the NBA saw 4 former VCU Rams in the league at the same time. Briante Weber and Treveon Graham are together again, this time for the league's Charlotte Hornets. Troy Daniels is shooting the lights out in Memphis and Larry Sanders hit the hardwood for the first time in a while for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
