After honoring late VCU Broadcaster, Terry Sisisky, the Rams got their first win of the season against the Spartans from UNC Greensboro, 101-86. A game that saw at least three Rams with 20 points or more.

The Spartans, out of the Southern Conference, didn't have much tape to watch of these young Rams. Having game film of the Rams might not have been much help. Playing the Rams this year is like playing Russian roulette with all 6 chambers full. You don't know which one you'll get but you know one of them is going to go off.

Senior, Joey Rodriguez, answered any questions about his lingering injury. Rodriguez set a new VCU record for assists in a game with 17. He was instrumental in the first half at one point, hitting 3-4 from three point land and finished the game with 22 points, 4 steals and only 2 turnovers.

The Spartans would already be hurting without starting point guard Kyle Randall but I'm not sure how much of difference he would make against the Rams full court defense that can only be described as 'havoc', forcing 13 turnovers in the first half and 21 total.

The run and gun offense by the Rams allowed them to put up 55 points in the first half alone but allowed 44 points by the Spartans.

Senior, Jamie Skeen, had the kind of night we'd love to see him have consistently. Skeen played hard around the rim with 22 points and 7 rebounds and about a handful of And 1s.

Junior, Toby Veal, continued to impress Ram fans with 11 points, 3 blocks, 2 steals and 6 rebounds. Veal certainly has a dominating presence in the paint that commands a game plan. I'm not exactly sure what 'swagger' technically is, but when you see Veal on the court, you know he's got it.

After scoring 27 points in the exhibition against Virginia Union, Senior, Brandon Rozzell, dropped 23 against UNCG.

Rams next game is Monday, part of the pre-season NIT against Winthrop.
