Anthony Grant's reign at VCU is officially over. The Richmond Times Dispatch is reporting that the University of Alabama has reached an agreement in principle to move Anthony and his family out of Richmond and down to Tuscaloosa, AL where he will become the new head coach of the Crimson Tide. During Grant's tenure, VCU never settled for less than 24 wins a season and reached the post-season all three years, twice to the NCAA tournament and once to the NIT. Grant was 76-24 overall while at VCU and complied a conference record of 53-10. He was also the CAA Coach of the Year for 2006-2007. His presence will certainly be missed on and off the court. A press conference has been scheduled for Sunday, March 29th, 2009.
Let the search for a new coach begin! VCU has been in this situation before, and we put our trust whole-heatedly into Norwood Teague and our Athletic Department.
