Ram Nation is back in the "The Basketball Tournament", aka TBT, in the $1 million winner-take-all event aired on ESPN next month. It will be Ram Nation's fifth appearance and first since 2019. The predominantly VCU alumni squad has advanced to two Sweet 16s and an Elite 8 in previous appearances, but will take on a tournament favorite in game-1 this year, taking on a Sideline Cancer team featuring elite overseas pros Tyrese Rice (Bird High School/Boston College), Marcus Keene, Dom Jones (former NBA) and Mike Daum to name a few.
Ram Nation features eight VCU alumni including JeQuan Lewis, Juvonte Reddic, De'Riante Jenkins, Marcus Evans, KeShawn Curry, Marcus Santos-Silva, Mike Gilmore and David Shriver and features former VCU Assistant Coach, Jamion Christian, as Head Coach. Christian was an assistant under Shaka Smart in 2011-2012 before taking on head coaching jobs at Mt. Saint Mary's, Sienna and George Washington.
The squad is joined by non-alumni Manny Camper (Siena) and Brendan Adams (George Washington).
Ram Nation will play as the No.7 seed in the Wheeling, WV region. Their first and only guaranteed game will take place on Tuesday, July 25 at 4PM on ESPN+.
