Rams advance to semifinal round of Naismith Student Section of the Year Award

<a href="http://www.vcuramnation.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/url.jpeg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-10258" alt="url" src="http://www.vcuramnation.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/url-300x232.jpeg" width="300" height="232" /></a>VCU has outlasted 142 other schools and advanced to the Sweet 16 of this year's Naismith Student Section of the Year voting.

Ram fans can vote now through Feb. 22 for their student section by <a href="http://www.facebook.com/ILoveCollegeHoops" target="_blank">clicking here</a>. The eight institutions with the highest number of votes will move onto the final round and placed before the Naismith Board of Selectors for the final selection. The winning school will be announced March 8.

The winning student section gets bragging rights as the best college basketball student section in the country, while the winning institution will receive $10,000 to be used in its general scholarship fund.

The other schools remaining schools are Colorado, Gonzaga, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, Marquette, Pittsburgh, Purdue, St. Bonaventure, St. Joseph's, Southern, Syracuse, Utah State and Valparaiso.
