Rams offense fires on all cylinders to send Huskies packing, 90-63

Shooting 53% from the floor, VCU (8-4) had no problems with the Huskies of Northern Illinois. The Rams lead for 39:23 of the forty minutes played.

David Shriver hit his first three attempts from beyond the arc help the Rams jump out to a 24-6 lead. He ended the evening with 14 points on 3-4 shooting from distance.

The Rams shot an impressive 60% from the floor in the first half, and took a 49-26 lead into the locker room.

Jalen DeLoach had 16 points and a game-high 9 rebounds for the Rams.

VCU out-rebounded the Huskies, 35-31, with 42 of the Rams points coming inside the paint.

The Huskies turned the ball over 18 times with 10 of those coming from VCU steals. The Rams were able to convert 13 points off those NIU turnovers.

VCU only committed 13 turnovers on the evening—a stark improvement from the 26 turnovers the Rams committed in just their last game out.

Jamir Watkins led all scorers with 22 points on 8 of 12 shooting (66%) and 4-4 from the free throw line. He also added 7 rebounds and three assists to his stat line for the game.

Ace Baldwin, Jr. was the only other Ram in double digit scoring with 10 points to go along with his 8 assists.

Well above their 69% average coming into the game, VCU shot 83% on the night hitting 25 of their 30 free throws.

This was the third win in as many games for VCU.

The Rams will return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 21st, as they will host Navy. That game is set to tip at 7pm ET.
