VCU returns much of the core of this past season's A-10 championship team, but added to that last night with the addition of Creighton transfer, Blake Harper. The 6'7 guard from Washington DC will reunite with his former Gonzaga High teammate, Nyk Lewis, becoming VCU's first incoming player from this year's transfer portal.
Harper started his career with the Howard Bison where he earned MEAC Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year awards in his first season of college hoops. He averaged 19.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists with the Bison before transferring up to the Big East where he saw his minutes cut in half in his time with the Jays. The lengthy guard/forward posted 7.7 points and 3.6 rebounds in 18.4 minutes per game this past season, but posted an efficient 58.1% true shooting percentage and drew 5.3 fouls per 40 minutes while on the court, good for second in the Big East this past season.
