VCU extended their winning streak to 4-0 as they cruised to a 83-57 victory over the Greyhounds of Loyola, Maryland.
After trailing for the first eight minutes, the Rams used a 17-2 run to open the game up in their favor. Loyola countered with an 11-0 run to briefly re-take the lead. But, the Rams regained control before halftime, and headed into the break up 36-30.
In the second half, VCU’s defense tightened up, holding Loyola to only 8 points on 3-for-17 shooting over the first 12 minutes.
The Rams capitalized on Loyola’s 17 turnovers, converting them into 21 points, keeping the Greyhounds in check and building momentum on both ends of the floor.
Max Shulga led VCU with his first double-double of the season, posting 20 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 steals.
Jack Clark was VCU’s top scorer with 25 points on an efficient 9-of-11 shooting, along with 6 rebounds.
Joe Bamisile added 22 points, hitting 7-of-12 from the field and 6-of-9 from the line.
VCU dominated the glass, out-rebounding Loyola 42-33 and scoring 17 second-chance points to Loyola’s 3.
The Rams also controlled the interior, outscoring Loyola 42-22 in the paint.
The Rams return to action on Nov. 21st as they face Seton Hall in the opening round of the Charleston Classic. That game is set to tip at 5pm ET and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
