VCU saw a double digit advantage wash away by the Green Wave of Tulane University, only to surive after a last second half-court prayer missed it's mark.
Up 1 with under a minute to play, Joey Rodriguez took the ball straight to the bucket giving the Rams a 3 point lead with 10 seconds to play. The Rams chose to send Tulane to the line immediately where they hit both free throws.
Tulane then immediately fouled Ex Nixon with 3.9 to play, sending him to the line where he would miss the front end of a 1-and-1. Tulane grabbed the rebound, but with no time outs was forced to dribble to halfcourt and hope for a Christmas miracle.
The win moves VCU to 7-2 on the season (0-1 in conference).
Larry Sanders lead the Rams with a team high 16 points and 9 rebounds.
Jamie Skeen chipped in 10 points and 4 rebounds in his first 14 minutes as a VCU Ram.
Joey Rodriguez lead all players with 8 assists to go along with his 7 points.
VCU has a 10 day layoff before three straight home games starting with ECU on December 29th.
