Rams tear down the Hilltoppers, defeat WKU 76-44

VCU welcomed Western Kentucky University to the Siegel Center Tuesday, marking the 3rd meeting with the team from the Sunbelt Conference for the in the past 13 months. After the 76-44 win, the Rams have owned the meetings 3-0.

Sophomore Briante Weber made his 3rd start, filling in for Senior Darius Theus who has been playing with limited minutes from a nagging injury.  Weber would set the momentum for the game from the very first place.  WKU won the opening tip and Weber immediately steals it for a break away dunk, making the sold out Siegel Center rise to their feet.

The Hilltoppers were without starters T.J.Price and Jamal Cook but the Rams may have also been too much with them into the line up early. The first half was all VCU. After outscoring the Hilltoppers 42-16.

VCU forced a season high turnovers for WKU at 32, WKU's previous high was 25 in one game.  VCU turned those turnovers into 34 points. The Rams only turned the ball over 11 times.

Junior Rob Brandenberg continued to find his stroke going 4-9 on the night with 12 points. Sophomore Treveon Graham also chipped in 11 points in the win.

The Rams owned the Hilltoppers in the pain.  VCU outscored WKU in the paint 36 to 18 completely dismantling the Hilltoppers.

The Rams will host Longwood on Friday, December 21st at 7:30pm.
