Recap: Rams force 21 Wildcat turnovers in 73-62 win

VCU (17-6; 7-3 A10) used the the opening 10-minute stretch to jump out to an early 15-2 lead.

During that same stretch the Wildcats turned the ball over 10 times.

Davidson rattled off a 12-0 run of their own to pull within 2 points, but a layup by Marcus Santos-Silva (8pts/4reb) cauterized the wound and righted-the-ship for the Rams. The Wildcats would get no closer for the remainder of the contest.

De'Riante Jenkins and Marcus Evans scored the Rams final 15 points in the first half. VCU closed the half on a 13-4 run giving them a 15 point advantage after 20 minutes.

Jenkins ended the night with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assist, and 5 steals.

Evans tallied a team-high 19 points to go with his 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

Davidson went on a 16-4 run in the second half— of which Hyunjung Lee scored 14 of those points—to pull back within 8 points.

Lee (20 points) and Kellan Grady (27 points) scored 47 of the Wildcats 62 points.

In all, only four Wildcats scored on the evening.

VCU tallied a perfect 19-19 from the free throw line; while shooting 40% overall from the floor on 23-57 shooting.

The stick-out-stat for the night though is the Wildcats season-high 21 turnovers that led to 23 VCU points.

VCU returns to action Wednesday, February 12th, as they host the Patriots of George Mason. That game is set to tip at 7pm EST and will be broadcast on ESPNU.
