RECAP: Rams rebound to top Tigers, 70-59

VCU bounced back to win their second game in three days. Tonight's 70-59 win against the Tigers of Memphis cemented a 3rd place finish for the Rams in the early season, Bad Boy Mowers Crossover Classic.

KeShawn Curry opened scoring for the Rams as he netted the first 4 points. He would finish the night with 14 points on 44% shooting to go with 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steals.

Curry was joined in double-digit scoring by, Vince Williams, who tallied a team-high 15 points off the bench. He matched a career-high effort set just two days ago against the Aggies of Utah State.

The Junior wing also grabbed three rebounds to go with his 60% shooting effort on the night.

In total, VCU's bench contributed 38 of the teams 70 overall points.

VCU took a 33-29 lead into the locker room.

Curry and, Sophomore guard, Bones Hyland, opened the second half with a triple each to push the Rams out to a 10 point lead.

Hyland, who was named to the Crossover Classic All-Tournament Team, finished the night with 12 points to go with his 1 assist and 1 steal.

The Rams out-rebounded the Tigers, 35-34, including 8 offensive rebounds for 6 second chance points.

Sophomore, Hason Ward, led the Rams with 7 rebounds. The big man also contributed 9 points on 4-5 shooting from the field.

Freshman point guard, Ace Baldwin, pulled in 6 rebounds of his own to go with his 6 assists and 2 steals. Baldwins lone basket was a triple in the second half.

Both teams were plagued by turnovers on the evening. VCU's 18 turnovers was just one better than the 19 coughed up by Memphis. The Rams were able to turn those 19 turnovers into 25 points.

VCU returns to action on Wednesday, Dec. 2nd, as they travel to Penn State to take on the Nittany Lions. That game is set to tip at 5pm should current conditions stay true.
