After a 5 day Christmas break, VCU hit the hardwood again at the Siegel Center on Sunday. This time they would host the Flames of Liberty University. This game held no suprises as VCU would lead early and Liberty would never get close as the Rams picked up the win, 85-57.
The Rams dominated the team out of the Big South Conference limiting them to just 16 points in the first half. The Rams ended the first half with 45.
Senior Melvin Johnson would lead all VCU scorers with 15 on the night, shooting 5-6 from the field and 4-5 from three point land. Junior JeQuan Lewis would follow close behind with 14 points, shooting 6-10 from the field.
Sophomore Justin Tillman would collect 11 boards on the night for the Rams in a very lopsided rebounding effort. VCU grabbed 37 boards compared to Liberty’s 23.
The VCU faithful would see limited minutes from senior Korey Billbury. He did not play in the first half He would only log 15 minutes on the night but would contribute 9 points.
VCU moves to 7-5 on the season and will host North Florida on Wednesday, December 30th at 7pm.
