A national champ at DIII Lebanon Valley, Rhoades got his coaching start at nearby Randolph Macon where he coached for three seasons under Hal Nunnally before taking over as head coach himself. There, Rhoades went on to coach for 10 seasons, amassing a 197-76 record.
Rhoades will take over a Rice program coming off a rough 7-23 season, finishing at the bottom of Conference USA at 2-14 in league play. Despite moving to the Houston school, Rhoades will see some familiar competition, as the conference recently welcomed former VCU conference foes ODU and Charlotte.
