Scorching hot second-half shooting lifts Rams over Owls, 66-46

VCU (7-4) wins their fourth straight game en route to a 66-46 victory over the Owl of Florida Atlantic.

Once again, the VCU defense was on full display as the Rams kept Owls to 35% shooting overall, including 22% from deep.

FAU pulled the game to within one-point in the early minutes of the second half, but that was as close as they would get to reclaiming their first lead since they started the game 2-0.

VCU shot an impressive 71% in the second half to build a 20-5 run to create all the separation they needed to close the game out.

Ace Baldwin provided 9 assists in the game, including 7 in the second half, to help lead the Rams to 36 points in the paint.

Freshman, Jalen DeLoach, was the recipient on several of those assist as he scored 9 points on the evening on 4-4 shooting.

VCU got help from the board as their bench outscored the Owl bench, 27-20.

In fact, every Ram who checked into the game tonight (10 players overall) scored at least 3 points.

KeShawn Curry led the Rams with 13 points. The senior also swiped 2 steals on the evening.

Overall, the Owls turned the ball over 25 times—leading to 24 points for the Rams.

Despite not having a single field goal on the night, Vince Williams contributed 7 points to go with his team-leading 8 rebounds.

The Rams return to action on Saturday, December 18th, as they take on Penn State. That game is set to tip at 3:30pm EST.
