Tre Clark commits to VCU

The Rams picked up their second commitment of their 2019 class tonight with the addition of 6'3 guard, Tre Clark.

The Covington, GA native went largely unnoticed by DI schools prior to this season, but saw his stock rise recently after a breakout performance at Georgia's Tournament of Champions where he averaged 27 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.

VCU offered just recently before inviting Clark to campus where he took in the Rams' win against La Salle.

"We are very excited for Tre and his family," Newton head coach Rick Rasmussen told the Rockdale Newton Citizen. "Tre had a great visit there last week and just felt like the timing was right. VCU has a great basketball tradition and Tre feels like it is a great fit for him, and he just didn’t want to lose this opportunity. He has been on a tear for us the last two weeks, and he has matured and improved so much, especially as a leader."

Clark held offers from VCU and Quinnipiac, but was visited by a number of schools this week including multiple visits from UVA.

VCU was in to see Clark last night as he scored 32 for his Newton Rams, 25 of which came in the second half.

Clark joins 6'3 guard, Jarren McAllister, in VCU's two-man 2019 class. McAllister was a former Virginia Tech commit before decommitting from the Hokies to reclassify to the 2019 class.
