Troy Daniels scores career-high 28 including game-winner for NBA's Charlotte Hornets

Don't leave Troy Daniels open. VCU fans have known that for years, Atlantic 10 fans as well and now NBA opposing teams are learning the lesson as the VCU grad scored a career-high 28 points in Charlotte's double-overtime win over the Sacramento Kings last night, connecting on eight of his 11 three-point attempts.

Daniels set both single-game and single-season three-point records as a senior at VCU, hitting as many as 11 threes in one contest for the black and gold.

He parlayed that deep ball into a spot on the NBA D-League's Rio Grande Valley Vipers roster where he then set a single-season D-League three-point record without even finishing his season, being called up to Vipers affiliate, the Houston Rockets, just in time to win an NBA playoff game on a clutch game-winning three.

Daniels is averaging just 5.5 points this season with the Charlotte Hornets but has seen a bump in minutes since the calendar turned to 2016, playing double-digit minutes in eight of Charlotte's last 10 contests including two 30-plus nights over Charlotte's last three games, averaging 22.5 points in those contests.

Daniels is averaging 19.3 points when he plays 20 or more minutes this season.
