The tour will give the Rams an opportunity to preview the 2009-2010 season, as well as kick off their “Shoot for 1,000” campaign.
The tour begins on Thursday, Oct. 15 at the brand new T-Miller’s Sports Bar and Grill inside the Richmond Marriott, on the corner of Broad and 6th Streets, from 6-8 p.m. The first hour will be a social with light appetizers provided by VCU Athletics.
At 7 p.m., VCU Athletic Director Norwood Teague will briefly outline the Ram Athletic Fund’s exciting new initiative, “Shoot for 1,000”, which can earn fans a trip to VCU’s Dec. 19 game at Tulane in New Orleans. Immediately following, Smart will take a look into the season with a question and answer session with the “Voice of the Rams” Robby Robinson. Smart will also take questions from the fans in attendance.
The following Thursday, Oct. 22, the Barnstorming Tour heads to the Southside, where the program will be replicated at Champps in the Stony Point Fashion Park. Appetizers will be available, courtesy of VCU Athletics, and Coach Smart will continue to preview the upcoming season.
“Our hope is that no matter where you live in Richmond, you can make one of these two events,” Teague said. “It’s a chance for our fans to get an inside look at the team from Coach Smart and also learn about this new program that is part of the Ram Athletic Fund.”
Admission into these events is free. The Rams open their regular season on Friday Nov. 13, when they host against Bethune-Cookman at the Verizon Wireless Arena at the Siegel Center.
