It took a half to get the offense going but VCU's defense was stifling all night, holding the Eagles of Boston College to 38.6% shooting in the Rams 69-50 win in Brooklyn, NY in front of a crowd dominated by VCU fans.
The black and gold came out cold in the first half taking a 22-17 lead into the locker room before exploding for 47 second-half points. VCU ended the night shooting 41.5% from the field while forcing 23 BC turnovers.
Juvonte Reddic led the Rams with 14 points, connecting on six of his seven attempts from the field while grabbing a team-high eight rebounds for VCU. Treveon Graham and Rob Brandenberg added 13 each, both shooting 50% from the field. Graham joined VCU's 1000-point club with his first bucket of the night, joining Reddic and Brandenberg who hit 1,000 just a game ago.
Sophomore Melvin Johnson struggled early but finished with 12 points a game after dropping 27 on Virginia Tech.
Briante Weber dished out six assists for VCU, his highest total over the past five games, and had just one turnover on the night.
The win moves VCU to 11-3 on the season heading into their final non-conference matchup next Friday against Stoney Brook (9-4) at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.
VCU moves to 3-1 on the season against ACC teams with all three wins coming on neutral or road sites. Their lone loss came at the hands of Florida State in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
